Oppo, I leave for my Road trip this coming wednesday. I just rolled over the 4000 mile mark in the 3 months I've owned my fiesta ST. And I purposely drove extra miles to try and break in the car before autocrossing it and doing this trip. So basically I'm going to do all the driving in this car I've ever done up to this point in the span of 7 days. Worth it for two reasons. 1) ST octane academy. 2) Beartooth highway.

Kinja'd!!!

Am I insane?

How comfy is the FiST on highway trips? Quiet or noisey?

Semi-quiet for a subcompact. The fusion and mazda 6 I test drove were obviously quieter, but it isn't nearly as bad as the subcompacts of old. The tires make noise though. Stereo is loud enough to drown that out.

Step 1) Drive out west
Step 2) Detour to beartooth mountains
Step 3) Do the ST octane academy and thrash around someone else's fiestas.
Step 4) Drive east
Step 5) Detour some more
Step 6) home.

I'm incredibly jealous right now. Love a good road trip.

If you have time to make it up to Glacier, I highly recommend it!

Awesome, that looks fun. I've got 1000 miles on the FoST and want to do the Academy. The downside being all that's left for this year are weekdays late Sept/Oct. That time of year, there may be snow to deal with on I70, although maybe I could find a more fun route from Denver.

The park? If so yeah I second that. Was the most beautiful places I went last year.

Yeah, two of my brothers and our boys road-tripped up there 3 years ago for a family reunion. Epic trip...

We saw some of Yellowstone on the way up, but had been there a few years earlier, so didn't do the whole loop. We wanted to go up through South Dakota, but at the time, there was bad flooding in Iowa, so going through Kansas and Colorado was the better choice. I've been to South Dakota a couple times when I was younger - looking forward to getting back.

Our first day was through Ohio then we stayed in Iowa for a couple days. There's a Norwegian American museum we went to there. Then we were in SD for about 4 days. Happened to be Sturgis weekend so lots of bike. Made a day trip over to Wyoming and went back to our campground. Then went up to Montana and spent those days in Yellowstone and after that up to Glacier. Was amazing, unfortunately my hard drive died when we were in MN so I lost all my Glacier pictures. Our last place was Mackinac City after leaving Minnesota. It was a fun three weeks. We put over 5,000 miles on our truck.

Damn - sucks about the pictures. I'd love to take a three-week trip like that sometime. The most I can get away these days is one week, but as a kid we took some longer road trips out west.

Yeah, when you've got from the end of June to just after labor day off you can take longer trips.
